CrossFit Morgantown will launch a nonprofit as part the third annual Giosi WOD

Jan. 16—MORGANTOWN — Forgiven Warrior.

Jeff Giosi loved these words. They were so dear to Jeff Giosi that he inked them permanently into his skin.

CrossFit Morgantown’s owner and operator, Giosi, was 40 years old when he unexpectedly died from an unspecified genetic aneurysm at the gym.

His life was much like the two words he had tattooed on it. It left an indelible impression on his community. This is what inspired Forgiven Warrior. The nonprofit, which promotes and supports holistic wellness in north-central West Virginia, has just been formed.

Saturday will see the official unveiling of the organization at CrossFit Morgantown’s third annual Giosi Memorial WOD or workout-of-the-day fundraiser.

Sarah Giosi announced that all proceeds will be donated to the nonprofit she founded in memory of her late husband.

“We’re trying to figure out how we can improve the health of our community in north-central West Virginia. This includes focusing on leaders of nonprofits, families, and community leaders to make them more healthy,” she stated.

We are not interested to duplicate services. We are interested in looking at the existing situation and helping to fill in any gaps.

Giosi explained that Saturday’s workout will feature a brief presentation at 9 am to celebrate the launch. She estimates that around 300 people will complete the workout during the day.

“As at this morning, there were more than 40 gyms across the nation that planned to participate. Three gyms around the world are participating, including one from Dubai,” she stated. “That’s really cool.”
