A former nurse practitioner for a CVS Health Corp clinic She claimed discrimination in a suit she filed Wednesday after she was fired from her job for refusing birth control prescriptions.

J. Robyn Strader filed the suit in Fort Worth, Texas. She stated that her refusal of prescribing birth control to her Baptist beliefs led to her refusing to do so for six years, before CVS changed its policy.

Strader accused her former employer, of violating religious protections in the workplace guaranteed under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

The federal law obliges employers to make reasonable accommodation for employees’ religious beliefs. It also prohibits workplace discrimination.

CVS was not able to reach Fox News Digital for comment immediately.

An email statement from CVS spokesperson Mike DeAngeles to Reuters stated that “educating and treating patients about sexual health matters including pregnancy prevention” had been done. been deemed “essential.” Employees cannot be exempted from providing these services to patients.

“An employer cannot sidestep Title VII’s requirement to accommodate religious employees by merely labeling a particular function ‘essential,’” Strader said in her lawsuit.

Strader suggested she could have been transferred to a different position like a clinic that only gave vaccines. She had been responsible for administering vaccines to children before her death and handling illnesses.

Strader would refer a patient to a nearby clinic or a colleague nurse practitioner if she was asked to provide birth control.

The suit was reportedly handed to U.S. district Judge Mark Pittman. Trump appointed federal judge.

CVS is also being sued by two former employees from Kansas and Virginia. They claim they were fired. a similar policy.
