Dave Bautista Relieved To Exit Marvel, Acknowledging That Playing “Silly Drax” “Wasn’t All Pleasant”

Dave Bautista Is ready to move on after Drax the Demoyer and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A recent interview was conducted with GQKnown for his role as Drax in The Avengers, he is an action star who has been well-respected. Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, wants to reach his more dramatic persona. Bautista’s next venture is highly anticipated M. Night Shyamalan thriller, Knock at the Cabin.

Catching up with GQHe explained why he wanted to leave the role that made his name so well-known. Nearly a decade and seven different roles later Marvel Bautista hopes to end Drax and begin a new chapter with his projects. Bautista said he was “so grateful” for Drax, but he also admitted that there is a relief. [that it’s over]. He explains,

“It wasn’t all easy. It was tough to fill that role. I was exhausted by the makeup process. And I just don’t know if I want Drax to be my legacy — it’s a silly performance, and I want to do more dramatic stuff.”

Bautista also talked about his 2023 projects in the interview that will define his post-Marvel career. The future Knock at the Cabin film, he said that it was “by far the most I have ever spoken in film.” It was a huge volume of monologues. It was very expensive to shoot on film. Because we had only one camera, editing is not possible. It’s your only opportunity — you need a perfect take. It’s very stressful. I want to retain my dialogue but not at the cost of losing the essence of the scene. Bautista also said that when it comes to fame, he said, “Honestly, I could give a f**k [about being a movie star].” Later, he added that he doesn’t lead a very glamorous lifestyle. I live in Tampa. I don’t care if I’m in the spotlight or if I’m famous. I simply want to be a better actor. I need respect from my peers. I don’t need accolades — I really don’t, man. It’s about the experience, about knowing that I accomplished something.”
