Day, time and TV info set for LSU’s opening game at the College World Series

We still don’t know who the Tigers will play in their first game at the College World Series in Omaha next weekend, but we now know when that game will be played.

The LSU baseball team will begin its CWS run on Saturday against either Tennessee or Southern Miss at 6 p.m. CT, the NCAA announced. The game will be televised on ESPN.

We’ll have to wait until late on Monday night to learn who the Tigers will play in that one. The Volunteers and Golden Eagles have had to deal with multiple weather delays this weekend, and Game 3 of the Hattiesburg Super Regional is set to begin at 9:06 p.m. CT on Monday night after yet another.

In addition to the victor of that super regional, LSU will be joined in its half of the bracket by No. 1 overall seed Wake Forest and the winner of Game 3 of the Stanford Regional between the Cardinal and Texas.

The Tigers advanced to Omaha with a two-game, 22-run sweep of the Kentucky Wildcats over the weekend in the Baton Rouge Super Regional.
