Draisaitl scores 2 when Oilers defeat Golden Knights 4-3

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Leon Draisaitl scored two goals and the Edmonton Oilers beat the Vegas Golden Knights 4-3 on Saturday night.

Mattias Janmark scored a goal and assisted, Klim Kostin scored his third straight goal, and Zach Hyman added two assists to help the Oilers win the third straight. This was to complete a 3-1 road trip. Jack Campbell saved 27 shots.

Draisaitl scored his 50th career goal in a two-goal match. He has also scored four goals in the three previous games.

He and his teammate Connor McDavid were particularly good against the Knights. Draisaitl has scored 20 points in 17 games against Vegas and McDavid has scored 20 in 16 games. McDavid’s assist in the first period extended his point streak to seven games (five goals and six assists).

Paul Cotter and Keegan Kolesar scored for Pacific Division-leading Vegas. The team has lost six consecutive (0-5-1) games against division foes. Logan Thompson made 33 saves.

Janmark and Draisaitl opened the game for the Oilers. The Oilers took a 2-0 lead in the first period. In the first period, Edmonton outshot the Knights 16-8. But the Oilers couldn’t increase their lead.

Vegas scored with 1:44 remaining in the period. Kolesar shot from behind and the puck hit Campbell. It made it 2-1. Kolesar now has six points from six games, including two goals and four assists.

The Oilers twice went ahead by two goals in the second period — from Draisaitl and Kostin — but the Knights answered time. Vegas was 4-3 down at the end of the third period due to goals by Karlsson, Cotter, and Karlsson.

This was Vegas’s first game without captain Mark Stone. Stone suffered an upper-back injury against Florida on Thursday and is currently listed as week to weeks by Knights coach Bruce Cassidy. Stone was back-operated in May and said that he feels particularly well. Stone is currently second on the Knights, with 17 goals and 38 point.
