Dsquared2 Taps The Smurfs For One Life One Planet Collection

Dsquared2 Is it seeing blue in its One Life One Planet capsule series?

The Italian brand teamed with the nostalgic cartoon franchise “The Smurfs” for the co-branded line, spanning denim to accessories.

“First drawn in the ’50s, the Smurfs have etched their place into pop culture nostalgia,” the brand said in a statement. “The Dsquared2 x Smurfs collection shows their playful personalities mixed with the signature styles and fabrics of the brand.”

The Dsquared2 x Smurfs One Life One Planet collection includes men’s and women’s denim shorts, wide-leg jeans, an oversize jean jacket, khaki cargo shorts and a bomber jacket. Every item has Smurfs-themed patches at the front and back. Hoodies as well as graphic T-shirts can be included.

The collection includes high and low-top sneakers in cotton canvas, as well as a variety of accessories such a water bottle and bucket hats. A baseball cap has “Dean & Dan Caten”—the names of the identical twin brothers and founders of Dsquared2—written across the back.

The brand’s first One Life One Planet collection was released in April 2022. A second one will be available in October 2022.

Dsquared2 describes One Life One Planet as the founders’ commitment to contributing to a more responsible fashion industry. The brand said the collection “represents a dedicated path to finding ways to reduce the environmental impact and maximize the social impact.”

The collection also prioritizes the use of environmentally responsible materials. All denim items are made of 99 percent recycled materials organic cotton. A majority of T-shirts and sweatshirts are made from a mixture of organic and recycled cotton.

“The designers sought out fabrics which reduce, for certain aspects, their environmental impact and innovative ways to develop and finish products,“ the Dsquared2 team said.

The Dsquared2xSmurfs One Life One Planet collection will be available on April 12. The collection’s starting price is $115 for a water bottle. It will be available at all Dsquared2 stores, Dsquared2’s website and select retailers.
