Police state that the Dallas Zoo’s Monkey Habitat Fencing was performed on the same day and time as Leopard’s Escape

Police looking into the escape of a clouded leopard from its habitat at the Dallas Zoo on Jan. 14 are saying that the animal’s enclosure was intentionally tampered with — and that they found similar vandalism elsewhere in the zoo.

Dallas police reported The opening was made using a cutting instrument. The same type of cut was also found in the area that houses the Texas zoo’s langurs (a small breed) of monkey.

Police deny that the incidents may be related. All the monkeys were unharmed and none of them managed to escape.

The disappearance of the leopard — a female named Nova — forced the zoo to close on Friday. The search for the 25-pound animal required police officers to assist. The clouded leopard was first announced by the zoo via its official Twitter page.serious situation.”

Nova was found around 4:40 p.m. on Friday, the day after her disappearance.

On Saturday, the Zoo reported Nova seemed to be doing well after her brief adventure. She was able to get back on track with her normal life.

“Clouded leopard Nova spent Saturday at the habitat with Luna, perched on a high branch as many guests stopped by to wish Luna well,” the tweet said. “The vet & animal care teams say she shows no signs of injury.”
