Geno Smith ‘will be back’ with Seahawks in 2023

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that Geno Smith, the Seattle Seahawks’ quarterback, will return for the 2023 season. This is consistent with what Pete Carroll, the head coach, told reporters earlier this week. Geno had “better be back.”

As of yet, however, there has not been an official agreement. No matter if Smith is signed back to the team or not, the fact that Geno was brought back for another season doesn’t and shouldn’t prevent them from draft a new quarterback.

Armed with the No. 5 overall pick in the draftIf they wish, Pete Carroll, the head coach, and John Schneider, the general manager are in a position to select one of this class’s top QB prospects.

The new league year begins on March 15 – if the Seahawks haven’t signed Smith by then he’ll become an unrestricted free agent.
