Grammy-winning recording After a SWAT member shot him in Nashville, he was convicted of holding his wife and stepdaughter hostage at gunpoint. Variety reports.

Police fired on Mark Capps, 54, who was armed in his doorway and was wanted on aggravated assault and aggravated kidnapping warrants at the time of his death, according to local reports.

Metro Police spokesperson Don Aaron stated that Capps had brought his wife of 60 years and their daughter of 23 years into their family room. They were there to protect them at gunpoint around 3 a.m. Per News Channel 5. “He told them if they called someone, he would kill them,” Aaron said. “They were extremely frightened by him and his actions toward them in not letting them leave.”

Police said that he fell asleep at dawn and the two women fled the house. They then went to the Hermitage Precinct, where officers took statements from Capps and issued warrants. The warrants were issued at 1 :55 p.m. and the SWAT team arrived at Nashville’s home.

“Just after the arrest warrants were issued, SWAT was preparing in the event he barricaded himself inside,” Aaron stated. “He came to the door with a gun in hand. He was then fatally shot. Since then, we have learned that cameras were installed outside the house. They may have been outside the house. They were in SWAT gear and clearly marked to him as members of the police department.”

Capps, who was part a well-known Nashville musical family, collaborated with many country and gospel artists. His discography on his website lists Neil Diamond, the Dixie Chicks, Brooks & Dunn, Donna Summer, Olivia Newton-John and the Isaacs, Big & Rich, and Barry Manilow among many other collaborators.

According to VarietyCapps was shot to death two days after the death of his brother, according to his social media.
