Happy Valley’s final viewing figures revealed
Happy ValleyThe finale attracted the largest overnight viewing numbers in the UK since Line of Duty’s revelation about H’s identity.
Figures for overnight viewing reported by Variety Show that the final episode of Sally Wainwright’s drama about a police officer’s struggle against the criminal she believes killed her daughter at the hands of the criminal drew 7.5 million viewers on Sunday’s BBC One broadcast.

Happy Valley’s highest overnight audience ever in any of its three seasons was 41%.
BBC stated that this was the highest overnight number for Happy Valley since May 2021 when the Line of Duty series six finale aired.
Line of Duty, the Jed Mercurio drama, aired its highly-anticipated finale for season six. The episode provided answers to the long-running questions of who was H and who was H. some viewers were disappointed by the reveal.
Wainwright’s Series Ender has received praise. This series saw main characters Catherine Cawood (Sarah Lancashire), and Tommy Lee Royce(James Norton). They had a bitter fight in their kitchen, which ended in the escapee setting fire to his own house.

Fans of the show called it a “masterclass” Wainwright, who was also an actor, was commended for making even the most horrific scene amusing.
Norton, who was ahead of the finale of the third and final season – which returned after a seven year break to allow Rhys Connah, a child actor, to become Ryan’s teenage self – admitted that he had been guessing at its final plot with other fans.
He said: “I think the reason this series is particularly exciting is because everyone knows it’s the last and so everyone is going to be waiting for something to happen, and everyone is sort of predicting and guessing how Sally wants to end it.
“I have been predicting for the last seven years how she is going to end it so it was really wonderful to read the script and hear her ideas – and they don’t disappoint.”
