INCHEON (South Korea), Jan. 9, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE). Incheon Metropolitan City is becoming a major hub in Northeast Asia. Incheon is emerging as the fastest gateway to Korea and a beneficiary from the government’s economic growth policy. Incheon’s position as a major city in the MICE (Meeting Incentives Convention Exhibition), is being strengthened by the completion of Incheon songdo international conference complex zone (ICCZ).

Incheon, which is located only 28 kilometers from Seoul, Korea’s capital, has both air and sea routes. This makes it an ideal location for transportation. Incheon has a network of traffic in all directions. This includes the Incheon Port and Incheon’s subway line. Incheon has connections to 52 countries, 88 airlines and 173 cities. Incheon’s advantages allow it to continue growing by building numerous industrial and logistics complexes. It also has new residential complexes, tourist and leisure complexes, expanding expressways, and increasing educational, cultural, and other facilities.

Incheon also won the title of “Safest City in the World” in 2016 according to the global statistics website “Numbeo”. Incheon’s 24-hour monitoring smart-city system allows it to provide safety services in all areas including traffic and crime prevention. There is also a hospital that can provide emergency medical care for foreigners.

Incheon is also known for its smart MICE. Smart MICE is supported by 219 IoT data-collecting sensors that collect information about the flow of tourists in Incheon. This data is essential for the development and growth of the MICE sector. Moreover, real-time monitoring solutions are in operation through state-of-the-art information-collecting sensors and environmental information-collecting devices. By creating a control system that responds immediately, the core idea of MICE is to highlight the industry’s strengths. Smart digital signage platforms also contribute to the development of the MICE industry, such as indoor multimedia, KIOSK, outdoor rotating media board, bus information terminal, and a guide robot ROMI.

Incheon created the Five-Year Plan in 2018 to foster and promote the Incheon Songdo International Conference Complex Zone. Incheon has promoted the complex district project, with an emphasis on building infrastructure and creating an environment for the MICE industry. The ICCZ has been promoting the complex district project to promote the international conference sector, which will help lead the MICE industry here in Incheon. International conference participants can find all they need in Songdo Convensia. They have access to accommodation, shopping and cultural facilities.

The ICCZ has many new and exciting venues, such as Art Center Incheon and mega shopping centers like Hyundai Premium Outlet and Songdo Triple Street. There are also tourism accommodations like Sheraton Grand Incheon Hotel and Oakwood Premier Incheon. This proves Incheon’s competitive advantage in attracting international conference attendees.

Incheon also shows its determination to provide an institutional foundation and a systemic approach for the Incheon-specific, international conference industry. These efforts will help Incheon lead the growth in Korea’s MICE industry.
