Islanders’ Ilya Sorokin voted to 2023 NHL All Star Game

On Thursday night, the NHL announced that Islanders goalie Ilya Sorokin As part of the All-Star fan vote, he was added to the 2023 NHL All-Star team roster.

Sorokin will be joining the teammate Brock NelsonWho was it that was? named to the initial roster earlier this monthAt the events. This is the first-career All-Star game appearance for both players.

It is the first time in 2018 that the Islanders will have two players at the All-Star Game.

Sorokin has been a rock in net for the Islanders since making his debut back in 2020. In 108 games, Sorokin has posted a 54–38-14 record, 2.32 goals per game, and a.924 save rate.

This season, Sorokin has appeared in 34 games, 32 of which he’s made the start in, and he’s posted a 15-14-3 record. Prior to Thursday night’s loss, he ranked ranked fifth in the NHL in GAA (2.30), third in save percentage (.925), and second with three shutouts.

The 2023 NHL All-Star weekend in Florida will be on February 3 and 4. The Skills Competition will be held on Friday while the All-Star Game will be played on Saturday.
