Joel Embiid explains his reasons for dancing with Jazz dancers in the days before he won.

Before the Philadelphia Sixers were able escaped with a 118-117 win over the Utah Jazz Joel Embiid was the star of Saturday’s Jazz dance team, and he found himself right in the middle of it before tipoff.

Embiid stood at center court, ready to tip off the game. The Jazz dance team was also out there performing a final pregame show to get Vivint Arena fans excited. Embiid didn’t move to get out of the way and enjoyed some time with the dancers.

The big man stood still and refused to move. He did, however, do a little dance with the team just before the game started.

Embiid then spoke to NBC Sports Philadelphia, explaining why he did not move.

I had to sort of get going. These were not my dance moves. I learned a lot more dance moves. I was just vicing and trying get my rhythm moving. I’m a great dancer.

The Sixers will now take on the Los Angeles Lakers Sunday to continue their road trip.
