Juventus, Italy’s largest soccer club, will have to forfeit 15 Serie A point after an Italian court essentially ruled that the club had rigged transfer agreements and related finances.

Juve’s hopes to remain among the elite of European soccer will be severely hampered by this point deduction. The Turin-based club will be able to drop from third place to joint-10th at midseason.

Italy’s soccer federation announced Friday the point deduction. It’s a result of “plusvalenza,” Or scandal of capital gains. Juventus is accused of inflating the outgoing transfer values in its accounting to meet financial regulations.

Andrea Agnelli, the chairman of Juventus, will be expelled from Italian soccer for a period of two years in addition to the point deduction. Other executives were also suspended.
