Klopp fumes at Liverpool after the Brighton shock

Jurgen Klopp described Liverpool’s humiliating 3-0 defeat at Brighton as one of the worst moments in his Anfield reign.

Klopp’s troubled side was swept away by Solly March’s double, and a late strike of Danny Welbeck.

Liverpool’s miserable performance followed a 3-1 defeat at Brentford, and a FA Cup draw with Wolves. They were then saved from defeat by a controversial decision of VAR.

The Reds are currently in eighth place within the Premier League and their hopes for a top-four finish are fading every week.

Klopp couldn’t believe his eyes as Brighton ran his team ragged like he had not seen since he took over in 2015.

“Bad. “Really bad. It was terrible. Klopp stated that it was a well-organized team against an unorganized team.

“Massively frustrated. We were so frustrated that we gave up the ball. The spaces were too big for us to push up. That’s not good, especially against a well-drilled side such as Brighton. They were more confident, and we were less so.

Klopp stated that he tried to shift Liverpool’s tactics to end their poor run. However, Klopp admitted that the players were not able to handle the changes.

“I had an idea to modify the formation, which was to help the team. That was the original idea. But it wasn’t done right,” he stated.

“We have to be imaginative with the options that we have. It was not something my team believed in today. That’s it.”

Liverpool came within two wins last season of an unprecedented quadruple, winning the FA and League Cups. However, Manchester City won the Premier League title and Liverpool lost the Champions League final against Real Madrid.

Klopp admits that the current group is not as great as the one that nearly made history.

“How is that possible?” “The same players played excellent football matches, but if things weren’t properly organised it can look like that,” said he.

“We were always a little late and things such as this. They are the two most dangerous things that can happen in football. This is something that no formation can solve.

“It is my responsibility. It will not be difficult to improve this. We can learn absolutely nothing from this game, except for things that don’t work.

Liverpool’s title hopes had been over for a while, but failing the Champions League qualification would have been a major blow.

Klopp replied to a question about Liverpool’s predicament: “Yeah. How can you not be after such a game?

“I can’t stand there and claim it didn’t happen. We must be very concerned about this, of course.”
