Miles leads No. 7 Notre Dame wins 70-58 over Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Olivia Miles scored 13 of her game-high 23 points during the second half of No. 7 Notre Dame’s 70-58 victory over Syracuse on Sunday.

After three quarters of back-and forth, the Fighting Irish scored an 11-2 run to begin the fourth quarter. Despite Syracuse and Notre Dame trading baskets in the final minute of the fourth quarter the Irish held on to their double-digit win.

Dara Mabrey scored 15 points for the Irish (12-4, 5-1 Atlantic Coast Conference), after a dominating 86-47 win against Wake Forest. Miles also had seven boards, seven assists and seven boards.

Dyaisha Fair’s 14 points led the way for the Orange (13-5, 4-3), who entered Sunday on a three-game winning streak.

The game was low scoring for both teams, with each team scoring an average of 80 points. The Irish were at 48.4% and 38.9% respectively from the field. The Orange were kept at 35.8% in the field and 19% in the 3.

Notre Dame: Following a difficult loss to No. 22 North Carolina last Sunday. Notre Dame has won quality games over No. 4 UConn, No. 13 Virginia Tech.

Syracuse: Syracuse has only faced one other ranked opponent in this season’s Orange League, and that was No. 11 N.C. State on New Year’s Day.

On Thursday, Syracuse will be at Georgia Tech.
