MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Steven Crowl scored 17 points, Chucky Hepburn had 16 and No. For its sixth straight win, 14 Wisconsin beat Minnesota, 63-60.

Connor Essegian scored 11 off the bench for Badgers (11-2 Big Ten, 3-0 Big Ten), which have won 14 out of 16 games against Minnesota.

The Badgers struggled with Minnesota’s full-court press in the final 38 seconds, and Hepburn turned the ball over at midcourt.

Ta’Lon Cooper hit a layup with 27 seconds to go for the Gophers to trim Wisconsin’s lead to 63-60.

Hepburn got his fifth steal of the match with only 1 second remaining. Cooper was unable to recover the ball and Hepburn secured the Badgers’ victory.

Cooper scored 16 points to lead the Gophers (7-6, 0-3) as they played their first game in 12 consecutive days following a Dec. 29, cancellation.

Dawson Garcia had 14 points, Jamison Battle had 13, and Minnesota had 20 turnovers.

In the first half, the teams exchanged the lead six times.

Hepburn made back-to-back 3-pointers. Max Klesmit ended an 8-0 run by closing the first half with a layup to give the Badgers 32-26 lead at break.

Wisconsin scored three baskets on its first four possessions in the second half to make it 39-26.

The Gophers were not going to quit. Battle drained consecutive 3-pointers — both from the right baseline — to pull Minnesota within seven points at 49-42.

Minnesota managed an 11-0 win, capped by a Battle score to pull the Gophers within a point with 8 minutes to go.

It was 57-53 after Jordan Davis, Wisconsin’s 3-pointer banker, made it.

BIG PICTURE

Minnesota: Due to eight first-half turnovers, the Gophers struggled with offense. Minnesota was able to shoot 39% from the field on the first 11 of 28 shots. Cooper had seven points in the first half, and two turnovers.

Wisconsin: Hepburn continues to show his outside shooting. Hepburn entered Tuesday’s game with a 49% shooting clip (25 of 51) from 3-point range. Hepburn scored 3 of 4 points from long range against Gophers.
