Ohio State softball team beats Youngstown State

It’s Tuesday and hardly the weekend, but the Ohio State softball team was at it with a midweek game on Tuesday, hosting — and beating — the Youngstown State Penguins by a score of 10-2 in five innings. This was OSU’s seventh win in 8 games.

Ohio State opened the scoring with a 1-2-3 top-of-the-1st inning from pitcher Allison Smith. Mariah Rodriguez hit a homerun off the center-field scoreboard, giving the Buckeyes the 1-0 advantage.

Ohio State scored four times in the bottom of second inning. Kami Kortokrax hit a two run RBI single. Melina Wilkison was then walked with the bases loaded, and Sam Hackenbracht scored a single to make it 5-0.

Youngstown State answered with two runs in top of third inning, making it 5-2. Things remained the same until fifth inning where OSU added five more runs and ended the game early. Wilkison made everyone happy by hitting a homer to left field. It was her fourth in the past three games.
