During an interview Good Morning AmericaThe Monday edition of’s Michael Strahan aired ahead of the publication of his memoir Spare, the Duke of Sussex said he “genuinely” believes the monarchy should continue — with some modernization.

He said that his family would benefit greatly from the same process that he had with regard to their unconscious bias. “It’s not racism, but unconscious bias — if not confronted, if not learned and grown from, then that can move into racism. However, my wife missed a tremendous opportunity.

Strahan asked Harry for more details: “I understand what your meaning when you say there was a lost chance with your wife, but I need to explain it to those who might not.”

Harry explained that representation is what she had said to him right from the start, and was representation. “And I, a privileged white male, didn’t really get what she was saying.”

Harry added, “But then, you add in the racism element, which was something the British press jumped straight on,” Harry said.

Cooper repeated the statement and asked: “Do you think that you were bigoted prior to your relationship with Meghan?”

Harry said, “I don’t know,” “Put it this way — I didn’t see what I now see.”

Prince Harry also hopes for reconciliation with his father King Charles III, brother Prince William and the rest of his family.

He stated, “If we can reach the point of reconciliation it will have a ripple impact across the globe.” Good Morning America. “I believe this, and that is what drives me. It’s very disappointing if this doesn’t happen.
