Prince Harry Won’t See King Charles On His Visit to the UK
Prince Harry is back in the United Kingdom ahead of the 10th anniversary celebration of the Invictus Games at St. Paul’s Cathedral tomorrow. However, during his short visit, he will not be seeing his father, King Charles.
“In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not The Duke will meet with his father while in the UK this week, it unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full programme,” a spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex told Town & Country. “The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”
The Duke of Sussex last visited the UK in early February, when he made a quick trip to see King Charles after news of the British monarch’s cancer diagnosis broke. Before the cancer diagnosis was shared with the public, King Charles personally told his sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, and his siblings, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward.
At events celebrating One Year to Go until the 2025 Invictus Games in Canada earlier this year, Harry opened up about that trip. “I jumped on a plane and went to go see him as soon as I could,” Harry said. “Look, I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him, I’m grateful for that.”
King Charles recently resumed public duties as he continues to undergo cancer treatment. A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said “doctors are sufficiently pleased with the progress made so far that the King is now able to resume a number of public-facing duties. Forthcoming engagements will be adapted where necessary to minimise any risks to His Majesty’s continued recovery.”
Tomorrow is the first Garden Party at Buckingham Palace, and it’s as yet unclear if King Charles will be in attendance. However, he recently appeared at the Royal Windsor Horse Show, so major public events are not entirely out of the question.
