Sam Ryder is ‘buzzing’ with excitement as he has been nominated to the BRIT Award
Sam Ryder said he felt like a “golden retriever that’s won a competition” as he was nominated for Best New Artist at the BRIT Awards.
The Space Man singer, who finished second at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, is competing against Rina Sawayama, Mimi Webb and Wet Leg to win the coveted gong.
Speaking as the nominations were read out by Vick Hope, he said: “I’m buzzing, I am going to be running around the room.”

He stated that he intended to “breathe in it and be appreciative.”
“Whatever the outcome, it’s incredible to be acknowledged alongside so many talented artists and peers.
“For me this is truly a reflection of what it’s all about – the music.”
Harry Styles and Wet Leg lead the nominations with four each.
Last year, the award for Best Male Solo Artist Best Female was replaced with the Artist of The Year award.
This year, the category was dominated by male acts. Stormzy, Harry Styles, George Ezra, and DJ Fred Again were all nominated.
Beyonce and Burna Boy were all nominated for the International Artist category.
Artic Monkeys, The 1975, Wet Leg and Bad Boy Chiller Crew are all in the running to be Group of the Year.

K-pop’s Blackpink will be competing against Drake, Fontaines DC (Fontaines DC), Fontaines DC (Drake) and Gabriels for the International Group of the Year.
The ceremony will be held on Saturday, 11 February.
