Sooners can’t keep up with Cowboys in second half, lose 72-56

The Oklahoma Sooners looked very good after 20 minutes of play. Oklahoma State led Oklahoma State by six at halftime in Stillwater. And that’s where the good times ended.

To begin the second half, the two teams traded three-pointers. The Cowboys took a roaring victory, outscoring Sooners by 22 points to win the second half. They won 72-56.

Grant Sherfield scored 15 points in the first period and was held scoreless on the second half after he shot 0 for 6. Milos Uzan, who’d been on a role of late, was held under double figures for the first time in four games. He managed just two second-half attempts. He went 1 of 2 after the break, and finished with only eight points. Jacob Groves was also a Sooner who scored 10 points, shooting 4 of 8.

The Sooners shot only 41.7% on the field as a team and only 26.7% at three. The difference in the game was made by the arch. The Oklahoma State Cowboys shot 42% from three.

Oklahoma’s offense couldn’t keep their same level of efficiency and then had few answers at the other end of the court for a Cowboys offense that poured in 48 second-half points.

Your NCAA tournament resume will be harmed if you lose one of the Big 12 games. The Sooners were left with little room for error after their loss to Sam Houston in the first season.

The Sooners are now preparing for a difficult stretch of games against ranked opponents. They’ll host No. 21 Baylor will be hosting them on Saturday. They’ll then travel south to Fort Worth, Texas to face No. 14 TCU. They host the No. The Alabama Crimson Tide, which is the No. 4 team in the country, will be their next opponent. The Oklahoma Sooners will need to win a few games in this stretch to correct a lot of the mistakes made Wednesday night in Stillwater.
