Although the San Antonio Spurs are only 13-29, they hold the NBA record in one area.

The Spurs beat the NBA single-game attendance record of 68.323 fans on Friday against the Golden State Warriors. As part of the 50th anniversary celebrations, the team played a special game at their former home, the Alamodome. This led to an increase in attendance.

The Georgia Dome game on March 27, 1998 between Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls and the Atlanta Hawks set the previous record at 62,046. This was the event that ESPN’s “The Last Dance” documented. The Spurs moved up to 15th in NBA attendance from 29th. the Associated Press’s Tim Reynolds.

Spurs fans treated this game like a special occasion.

After announcing that they had sold 63592 tickets Wednesday, the Spurs were widely believed to have broken the record. in boldly succinct fashion.

While the team’s crowd on Friday is the biggest any one team has seen, the NBA record for most fans at any event still belongs to the 2010 All-Star Game, which drew 108,713 fans to the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium.

Some familiar faces were also part of the celebrations for the anniversary.

The Spurs reached out to Hall of Fame center David Robinson in order to announce their record-breaking attendance.

This night was special for the fanbase and team who earned it. The Spurs could hardly be described as good this year — they currently sit second-to-last in the Western Conference — but the power of the team’s history was clear on Friday.

They’ve had plenty to be proud of over the past 50 years, including five NBA championships and some of NBA’s most beloved Hall-of-Famers. But they also have one of the most passionate fanbases in San Antonio. This city of more than a million people has only one team in four North American men’s leagues.
