The Webb Telescope detects an exoplanet nearly the same size as Earth.

James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), reached another historic milestone with its first exoplanet discovery. LHS 475 b is just 41 light years away and has a diameter 99 percent of Earth’s. But there’s more work to be done. The JWST should soon be able to identify the atmospheres of Earth-sized extraplanets. Researchers are still trying to find out what kind of atmosphere this rocky mass might have. However, the planet’s surface appears to be around 300 Celsius, more than a little warmer than Earth, so don’t expect colonies. It could also mean that the planet’s climate is more like Venus’s greenhouse.
