Thursday’s lineups, injury reports, broadcast and stream info

On Thursday night, the Houston Rockets welcome the Utah Jazz to their Toyota Center home. This is the opening of a short two-game homestand. It’s night two of a back-to-back for the Rockets, who have now lost 10 of 11 games after Wednesday’s loss New Orleans

Lauri Markkanen is the head coach of Utah and has exceeded all expectations so far for the 2022/23 season. The Jazz were projected to be among the lowest-tier rebuilding franchises in the NBA, but they have exceeded all expectations thanks to the steady contributions of Jordan Clarkson and Kelly Olynyk.

Is it possible that the magic is over with five straight losses?

Today, the Jazz — who traded veteran stars Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert last offseason — are still clinging to the final spot in the Western Conference play-in tournament for the 2023 playoffs. They could be knocked out if they lose to the Rockets in last place.

What and When to Watch

  • Date: Thursday, Jan. 5

  • Time: 7 p.m. Central

  • TV Channel AT&T SportsNet Southwest, NBA League Pass

  • Live Stream fuboTV (watch for free In Houston markets

Probable starting lineups

Houston Rockets (10-28)

Utah Jazz (19-21)

Projected lineups are based on each team’s prior game, with the exception of Martin for Gordon, who typically sits out half of all back-to-backs as part of a planned maintenance program. Gordon was in New Orleans on Wednesday, so it is likely that he will sit Thursday.

Reports of injuries

Houston’s injury report won’t be issued until a few hours before Thursday’s tipoff, owing to the back-to-back. On Wednesday, Jae’Sean Tate (right ankle soreness) was the only absence, but expect Gordon to be unavailable Thursday due to the back-to-back. Utah will not have Collin Sexton (right right hamstring injury maintenance).
