Tori Spelling’s daughter was diagnosed with hemiplegic headache

Tori Spelling Stella, 14, shared her relief after she was diagnosed with hemiplegic headaches.

The Love at First Lie host posted an Instagram story of her teenager cuddling a dog, with a caption reading “I wanted to thank everyone for all the well-wishes for Stella. She is now feeling much better and she is back at home. At the ER, she was diagnosed with a Hemiplegic Migraine.”

“It is a condition that affects only one side of the body,” she said. The signs of a Hemiplegic Migraine Attack are similar to those of a stroke. They typically include a sudden severe headache on one end of the brain, weakness and numbness in the other half.

It can be frightening to not know the cause or how to treat it, according to the mother of five.

“As a migraine patient my whole life, I didn’t know this,” she wrote. “Grateful for everyone at the ER. They were amazing and took great loving care of her.”

Spelling uses social media to share her battle with migraines. She has many sponsored Instagram posts detailing her experience with migraines.

“It is so hard to plan your day when you know you’re going to have a migraine attack,” she shared in a 2022 post.

The former was introduced in Oct. 2011. Beverly Hills, 90210 Star tweeted that she had terrible migraines following the birth of her daughter Hattie McCDermott.

“Anyone else get horrendous migraines right after giving birth? It could be hormones. “I’ve had one for a while,” she wrote. “Nothing is working.”

In Nov. 2011, Spelling tweeted “#migraine is back again. It hurts so much. I’m taken from my kids. Just for the record… Hate you migraine!”

Spelling — who also shares kids Liam, 15, Hattie, 11, Finn, 10, and Beau, 5, with actor and husband Dean McDermott, 55 — has been open about navigating the challenges of motherhood. “It’s hard for me because I grew up in a family that had lots of support. I grew up in a home with a nanny, so I was always the one that said, “When I have kids, I’m going all by myself.” “So I still do it all. But I’m still working to improve that. It’s okay to ask for assistance.
