U.S. could drop opposition to sending Abrams tanks to Ukraine

WASHINGTON, Jan 24 (Reuters) – America, in a reversal, seems to be dropping its opposition to sending M1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine and an announcement may come as quickly as this week, two U.S. officers instructed Reuters on Tuesday.

The officers, talking on situation of anonymity, stated they weren’t conscious of a remaining U.S. choice to ship the Abrams to Ukraine, a transfer that would encourage Germany to observe.

The Pentagon couldn’t be instantly reached for remark. (Reporting by Phil Stewart and Idrees Ali Modifying by Chizu Nomiyama)
