The journalist and newsreader of 54 years old became joint lead presenter on the BBC current affairs show Alongside Kirsty Wark In 2022, but still interested in reality TV.
Derbyshire told Woman and Home magazine: “If I get asked to do Strictly – which I honestly don’t think I will be – I’d totally consider it. It would be a good idea, but I don’t know if it would make sense. I also do Newsnight.

She said, “But hey I did, I was a Celebrity two year ago, and now, I’m doing Newsnight, and people are cool about it.” These days, people are less likely than ever to put you into boxes.
The TV host appeared on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! It was held in 2020 at Gwrych Castle, north Wales, because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Derbyshire was diagnosed in 2015 with cancer and had to have a mastectomy, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy.
She stated that she and Mark Sandell (TV producer) decided to wed in 2018 after Mark was declared cancer-free. They wanted to throw a party.
She stated, “Mark completely stepped up. He was amazing. He did everything for me and my boys.
After I received the all-clear, we got married. We wanted to have a massive party and celebrate with our boys, Mark’s daughter – my stepdaughter, Lizzie – and with our family and friends’. It was unbelievable.”
The broadcaster’s sons are Oliver (18) and Joe (15).
Derbyshire called Newsnight the “best job of journalism”
She tweeted: “SO HAPPY I’ll be joining fab @KirstyWark & the talented @BBCNewsnight team under new & ambitious leadership.
“It’s one of the best jobs in British journalism & I can’t wait to champion more stories about people’s lives while holding those who represent them to account.”
