10 chilling details about Pennsylvania woman accused of killing and dismembering her parents with a chainsaw in their home

Abington, Pennsylvania was recently named the 24th Best Place to Live in America. Money magazine. It is just 12 miles from Philadelphia. The historic township dates back to the pre-1700s. It has great schools and hospitals, beautiful historical homes, and scenic trails. But this week, the community was shocked by an abominable crime. One mile from Bradley Cooper’s childhood home, an elderly couple, Reid Beck (73) and Miriam Beck (72), were apparently murdered. Verity Beck, 49, is the main suspect.

Justin Beck, the son of the couple, was called police

Abington Police responded to a call at 10:30pm on January 17th from a house in the 1100 block Beverly Rd. Justin Beck called Abington Police to conduct a well-being inspection in Jenkintown, Abington Township. He hadn’t spoken with his parents since Jan. 7. However, he had text with Verity, his sister, to complain of feeling sick.

Justin Came with Verity Beck, his sister, to Soup and Found His Parents’ Bodies

Justin passed their house at 8 p.m. on Tuesday and noticed his parents’ cars outside. Justin wanted to bring his sister some soup. He showed up at his sister’s house at 9:30 pm and asked for her soup. He discovered a body that he believed to be his father. It was covered in blood and had a chainsaw near it.

According to his sister, he was told by his mother that things had “been bad” at home.

Justin spent 30 minutes talking with his sister. She told him that things had “been bad” at her home with their parents, according to police. He asked her if there had been any terrible incidents with their parents. She replied yes.

He told his sister to call the police but she replied that she needed more time. Police responded. He assumed that his mother had also died at that point.

Justin Calls Police

He fled the house and called 911 to inform police that there were at most two firearms inside the home. After failing to reach Verity, police arrived at the scene at 10:30 p.m. The officers entered the home through the sliding door at approximately 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. There was a strong odor from decomposition.

They Found the Bodies and Miriam Beck’s Bodies, 73 and 72, respectively

“Officers found evidence of two deceased persons inside the house, one wrapped in a white sheet and one dead person. The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office stated that there were signs of trauma. “An additional search of the house revealed the bodies of a male aged 73 and a female aged 72.”

They also discovered a chainsaw, and saw that the bodies had been dismembered.

“A chain saw was found near one of the bodies. Both individuals were in different stages of dismemberment.” The statement states that several firearms were also recovered from the house.

Severed Body Parts Found in Trash Cans

Police found two trash cans, one partially full, in the bedroom. Later, detectives from the county discovered Reid Beck’s body decapitated wrapped in a sheet on a floor doll. Authorities believe Verity Beck transported it.

White bags containing severed body parts were also found in the trash. The chainsaw was also found to contain “biological material”. Later, police found the remains of severed bodies in another trash can.

Police Believe That the Bodies Were There For More Than One Week

Police believe the couple were shot to death on January 7, because unread newspapers dating from that date were left outside the home. It was also the last day Justin Beck spoke to his parents.

A Tampered Safe was also located

The safe was located on the second floor master bedroom and appears to have been tampered. There is no known motive. There were tools found near the safe, which had drill marks. Verity Beck registered two.38 caliber handguns. They were also found in Verity Beck’s bedroom.

Police say that one of the two had been fired once and that the other was fired twice. Unregistered.38-caliber handgun was also found that had been fired twice. The couple were believed to have been shot with a pillow between them and their gun. Police found a pillow in the house with gunpowder burns, and a hole.

Verity Beck Was Charged With First- and Third Degree Murder

Verity Beck was indicted for first-degree as well as third-degree murder. She will appear in court on February 1st and is currently being held without bail.
