Juventus deducted 15 points from its score for the “plusvalenza” scandal
Juventus, Italy’s most powerful soccer team, will lose 15 Serie A points. This is after an Italian court essentially ruled it had rigged financial transactions related to transfer agreements.
Juve’s hopes of being among Europe’s top soccer clubs will be crushed by the point deduction. The Turin-based club will be able to drop from third to joint-10th at midseason.
Italy’s soccer federation announced Friday the point deduction. It is a result of the “plusvalenza,” Capital gains scandal. Juventus is alleged to have inflated the value of outgoing transfers in its accounting in order to comply with financial regulations.
Andrea Agnelli, the chairman of Juventus, will be expelled from Italian soccer for a period of two years in addition to the point deduction. Other executives involved were also suspended.
This is an ongoing story that will be updated.
