Niagara Health chooses Oracle Cerner for a modern hospital information system. This will allow Niagara Health to provide better care for its patients.
NIAGARA (ON), Dec. 15, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Niagara Health signed a 10-year agreement Oracle Cerner To build a hospital information system to serve all five Niagara Health sites as well as Hotel Dieu Shaver Health & Rehabilitation Centre.
Niagara Health and Hotel Dieu Shaver can now replace old paper records and obsolete electronic processes by using the new hospital information systems. The system will allow for better data management, patient safety, quicker access to information, and improved quality and consistency in patient care.

The new system will provide digital solutions for managing information for outpatient and inpatient services, including complex care, surgery, emergency and urgent care as well as mental health, cancer care, and rehab. Niagara Health will implement Cerner technology using Cerner Canadian Reference Model. It will be based upon Canadian best practices and interoperability standard.

Project Monarch Named the project to build the new hospital info system, it was chosen in an internal competition. The project is expected take around two years. It will require considerable teamwork from staff, physicians, subject matter experts at Niagara Health and Hotel Dieu Shaver, as well as input from key stakeholders such patients partners and other stakeholders. The new hospital information system will be available in the fall 2024.

Oracle Cerner will offer a managed service hosted in Canada for Niagara Health and Hotel Dieu Shaver. These two organizations will now be part of the Ontario Collaborative eHub Oracle Cerner Health Information Exchange, HIE to share information across hospitals Ontario.
