Americans should expect Congress will ensure that debt defaults are avoided
ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE Jan 19 (Reuters – The White House stated that Americans should expect Congress’s help to avoid a debt default after the U.S. reached its $31.4 trillion borrowing limit Thursday.
“Americans have every right expect that Congress will join together as they did dozens, dozens, and dozens of other times before in a bipartisan fashion and ensure that the American economy remains on a stable path,” stated Olivia Dalton (White House principal deputy press secretary).
She said that the White House would not negotiate the debt ceiling and reiterated a previous position on the subject. (Reporting by Jeff Mason, Nandita Bose Editing: Chris Reese
