Céline Dion excluded from Rolling Stone list of best singers ever

Rolling StoneThe controversial list of “The 200 Greatest Singers of All Time” is drawing music fans’ ire for its glaring omission: Céline Dion.

Frank Sinatra and Morrisey were included in the round-up, as well as current pop stars SZA, Taylor Swift, and Billie Eilish. Whitney Houston and Sam Cooke rounded out the Top 3.

In 2008, the publication published its first list. The results favored classic rock and singers from ’60s to ’70s.

“This new list was compiled by our staff and key contributors, and it encompasses 100 years of pop music as an ongoing global conversation,” according to Rolling Stone.

“Before you start scrolling (and commenting), keep in mind that this is the Greatest Singers list, not the Greatest Voices List. Talent is impressive; genius is transcendent,” the authors explain. “In all cases, what mattered most to us was originality, influence, the depth of an artist’s catalog, and the breadth of their musical legacy.”

One name excluded from the list was Canadian icon Céline Dion, whose signature power ballads topped the charts throughout the ’90s. Fans called out the artist on social media. Rolling Stone For snubbing vocal powerhouse.

The list did not include Pink, Justin Bieber or Jennifer Hudson. Janet Jackson, Tony Bennett and Madonna were also excluded.
