After frightening injury and on-field convulsion, Nick Foles, Colts quarterback, leaves the field on a cart
After a tackle that left Nick Foles convulsing on field, the Indianapolis Colts quarterback left Sunday’s game against New York Giants.
The injury occurred in the second quarter. Giants defensive line Kayvon Thibodeaux raced Foles unassisted and sacked him on the blindside. Foles’ upper body was pushed into the turf by the tackle. Foles convulsed on to the field while Thibodeaux celebrated Thibodeaux’s sack.
Foles was tended by trainers while he remained on the back. Foles was eventually able walk on his own to the sideline, but a cart took him off the field. At halftime, the Colts announced that Foles was out due to a rib injury.
The Colts’ only offensive play was the sack. They punted the Giants, who held a 24-3 lead into halftime. Sam Ehlinger took over at quarterback after halftime.
Foles assumed the role of the Colts’ starter quarterback in week 16, after Matt Ryan was resigned by Indianapolis. Ehlinger was able to complete 32 of 52 passes for 304 yards and one interception in his two appearances this season.
