Monday’s interview with Eric Studesville, Dolphins RB coach, will be conducted by Commanders.

Officially, you can add another candidate to Washington Commanders’ search for an offensive coordinator.

ESPN’s John Keim reports that Eric Studesville, Miami Dolphins associate running backs coach and head coach, will interview Monday with Washington for the vacant position of offensive coordinator.

This week, Washington sought permission to speak with Studesville, but at that time, it wasn’t known if he was interested. A second assistant to the Dolphins, quarterbacks coach Darrell Bevell, declined interview requests with the Commanders and New York Jets.

Studesville, 55, played collegiately at Wisconsin-Whitewater. In 1997, Studesville began his NFL coaching career with the Chicago Bears as a quality controller assistant. Studesville became a special-teams assistant coach/wide receivers coach with the Bears in 1999.

In 2001, he began to coach running backs for the New York Giants. He spent six seasons with Bills after three years with the Giants. He returned to Denver where he lived for seven years in 2010. When Josh McDaniels was fired, he was promoted as interim head coach.

Studesville made the move to Miami Dolphins in 2017, where he is still today. Between 2017-20, he served as the run game coordinator and running backs coaches. In 2021, he was named co-offensive coordination. With Mike McDaniel as his head coach, he was promoted to associate head coach/runningbacks coach in 2022.

Studesville is highly respected around the NFL and would seem to align with Rivera’s philosophy on wanting to run the football.
