Giants place Bailey on 7-day concussion IL; Sabol recalled initially appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
The Giants sustained big blow once they positioned catcher Patrick Bailey on the 7-day concussion IL previous to Saturday’s highway recreation towards the Philadelphia Phillies.
Blake Sabol was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento to take Bailey’s roster spot.
Bailey left the Giants’ 4-3 loss to the Phillies after taking a foul tip off his mask within the first inning. Throughout the recreation, the workforce introduced the second-year catcher was coping with blurred imaginative and prescient.

With Bailey out, Tom Murphy will get the beginning at catcher towards the Phillies on Saturday. He’ll work with starter Keaton Winn and bat seventh, forward of Tyler Fitzgerald and Nick Ahmed.
Bailey has performed in 25 of the Giants’ 33 video games this season. He’s hitting .278/.344/.456 with 5 doubles, three homers and 10 RBI.
Murphy, who has began 9 Giants recreation and appeared in three others, will take over the first catching duties whereas Bailey is out.
Signed to a two-year, $8.25 million free-agent contract this previous offseason, Murphy has began 254 MLB video games at catcher, so the Giants’ pitching employees is in good arms. His expertise is why San Francisco introduced him in to again up Bailey.
