Jalen Pikett is added to the Oscar Robertson Trophy Midseason Watch List

Penn State basketball fans understand how important it is Jalen Pickett Pickett is a great asset to the program but his court performance is also being acknowledged beyond the Penn State basketball bubble. Pickett was named to the Oscar Robertson Trophy midseason list on Thursday. This puts him in contention for the national player of year award.

The Oscar Robertson Trophy is awarded annually by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association to the nation’s top men’s basketball player. Pickett’s numbers are enough to justify his inclusion on the midseason watch list.

As noted by Penn State’s athletics department, Pickett is the only player in the nation averaging at least 17 points per game, seven rebounds per game, and seven assists per game. He would become the second player to achieve this feat in the past three decades if he can maintain these averages through the end of the season.

The watch list includes the nation’s top 50 players roughly midway through the season. So Pickett still has a long way to go to garner attention and consideration for the award, which would be a first for Penn State’s basketball program.

Pickett and Penn State will be announcing their retirements road loss at Wisconsin Look for a rebound at home this weekend against Nebraska. Pickett will deliver another solid performance.
