Jay Leno Talks About Terrifying Burn Accident

After a car fire that erupted in his garage last month, the comedian was left with severe second degree burns.

Jay Leno He is speaking out about how he was badly burned by a car fire last month. 

Leno, 72, was working on his car in his Burbank garage when it caught fire. He suffered second-degree burns to his face, upper body, and neck. 

Leno has now opened up about his terrifying experience at West Hills Hospital’s Grossman Burn Center. He also had to undergo two skin graft procedures. 

He stated, “When you work alongside cars, you have many accidents.” People In a new interview, published Tuesday, December 13. “But this is larger than most.” 

The comedian CNBC’s host Jay Leno’s Garage His friend was helping him to fix a fuel line problem in the undercarriage on a 1907 White Steam Car. Dave Killackey Things went horribly wrong. 

“With a Steam Car, you have gasoline but also a Vaporizer which is heated with a pilot light to turn steam into water.” he explained to the outlet. 

Leno said that air was pushed into line to unclog the valve. “I got a full face of gasoline.” “I knew I was very close to the pilot light, and I thought ‘Uh-oh.’ 

The gas ignited the TV personality’s face as a spark began to react with it. He recalled, “It felt as if my face was on fire.” “Maybe it was the most intense sunburn you have ever experienced. That’d be fair to claim.” 

Leno described that at the time, he was trying to escape from under the car. Killackey pulled him out. 

He said, “I am not panicky but I knew that if I breathed into my lungs I could burn my lungs.” Dave pulled me from the car just 10 seconds later. I could have lost both my eyes if I stayed there any longer. 

Leno used Killackey’s work shirt to extinguish the flames before paramedics arrived a few minutes later. The Grossman Centre was open for treatment of burns to his head, neck, chest and hands. 

Leno’s surgeon stated that “When he arrived, his burns had been deeper than I expected.” Dr. Peter GrossmanThe publication was informed by Jay. “Jay is definitely an outlier when it comes to how well he has healed, considering the severity and extent of his injuries.”

Leno also denied taking pain medication, laughing in the interview that “the pain is a reminder of my stupidity!” 

He added, “It could have been so much worse,” “But I’m okay. I’m certain I’ll do the same stupid things that I have always done. Maybe just a little more careful.
