JetBlue will add additional routes to the alliance, as American Airlines tie up comes under scrutiny

(Reuters) – U.S. low cost carrier JetBlue Airways Corp announced Thursday that it would launch additional routes in the coming year under a partnership agreement with American Airlines. However, antitrust regulators are challenging the tie-up.

JetBlue announced that it will expand its routes from New York, Boston, and Los Angeles. The airline announced that the “Northeast Alliance”, which will fly to New York’s three main airports, will add more than 500 daily departures per day in 2023.

Six states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Justice Department called the NEA a de facto merger of the New York and Boston operations of the companies and sued to block it.
