She then remembered that Kelly Fremon Craig, writer/director, wrote a letter to her changing her mind.[She wrote] Blume stated that it was a “remarkable and passionate and funny, intimate correspondence.” “She was very persuasive.”

Margaret It is confirmed that the film will continue the 1970s setting of the novel as it depicts the title character’s first experience with puberty. Abby Ryder Fortson, a newcomer, plays Margaret. The trailer also makes it clear that Craig will keep the realism of Blume’s book intact, dealing honestly with Margaret’s fears — and hopes — as her body changes. It was published in 1970. Are You God? One of the first books that addressed female menstruation directly for young adults, it was also one of the first to specifically address this topic. Blume wrote about teen life in other books, such as Then Again, Maybe I Won’t Forever…The latter is the most important. is being made into a Netflix series.

But, that honesty didn’t please all readers. Blume’s YA novels were pulled from libraries shelves in 1980s amid a wave of conservative-led book ban campaigns. The author also made a comment on Today “Those campaigns are back with an even greater vengeance.[They think] Blume stated that if my child doesn’t read about it it won’t happen. “Today it’s even worse …. Book Banning is back in an enormous way, and it’s a really scary and destructive way. It’s now uber-political.”
