Graceland to lay to rest Lisa Marie Presley

LOS ANGELES, (Reuters) – Lisa Marie Presley, singer and songwriter, will be laid in repose at Graceland, Memphis’ mansion she inherited as her father Elvis Presley.

Presley, 54, died Thursday after she was rushed to Los Angeles hospital after suffering cardiac arrest at home.

Two days prior, she was seen with her mother Priscilla presley at the Golden Globe Awards. Austin Butler, who played her father in “Elvis”, won the best actor award and paid tribute the women.

“Lisa Marie’s final resting place will be at Graceland, next to her beloved son Ben,” a representative for her daughter Riley Keough said.

Benjamin Keough, age 27, died in 2020. His death was ruled suicide by the Los Angeles County Coroner. Lisa Marie Presley wrote an essay about her son for People magazine in early 2019 that she posted to Instagram. She described herself as “destroyed by” his death.

Lisa Marie Presley was the only child of Elvis Presley and became the sole owner of his Graceland mansion. This popular tourist attraction is now a landmark in the city. At the age of 42, Elvis had died from heart failure. She was only nine years old.

Graceland’s Meditation Garden is where Elvis Presley and his family are buried.
