Lizzo She is urging people to stop making comments about celebrities’ bodies.

The “About Damn Time” singer has been open about the criticisms she’s received online regarding her body for years. She felt that people needed to be reminded at the beginning of each new year. In a video posted to Instagram, she stated: “The discourse around body is officially tired.”

“I’ve seen comments change from “Oh my gosh! I loved you when you were thick. Why did you lose weight?” to, ‘Oh my gosh, why’d you get a BBL? I liked your body before,’ to, ‘Oh my gosh, you’re so big. You need to lose weight but for your own health. It’s too much work,” said the singer at 34 years old, pointing out the contradictory standards public observers place on public figures. “Are you OK? “Do you see the delusion?

Lizzo isn’t the only one who has expressed her desire for people to stop defining Lizzo by her body. “It’s exhausting,” she told Essence magazine in Nov. 2021. “And that’s it. This is not something I want to discuss. “We should not be negative about bodies.”

As the conversation in her comments section — along with those of countless other celebrities — continues, she doubled down on her previous sentiment.

“Do we realise that artists aren’t here to conform to your beauty standards?” Artists exist to create art. This body is art. Lizzo declared, “I’m gonna do what I want with my body.”

She also suggested that haters should have to pay to leave a comment “so we could see how much time we are f***ing wasting on the wrong thing.”
