LMU defeats No. 6 Gonzaga 68-67, ending Bulldogs’ 75-game home win streak

Gonzaga’s streak of home wins is now over.

LMU won on Thursday night against No. The historic upset was won by the Lions at the McCarthey Athletic Centre in Spokane by 6 Gonzaga, 68-67. The win marked their first over Gonzaga since 1991, and snapped Gonzaga’s massive 75-game home win streak — which was the longest winning streak in the modern era.

After trailing for much of the first half, LMU surged to a 14 point lead in the second half. Gonzaga came back and held the Lions down to two points in final 2:30, but it was too late. LMU won the one-point victory thanks to Cam Shelton’s clutch bucket in the last seconds.

Shelton scored 27 points for LMU and grabbed nine rebounds. She also shot 11-of-23 from behind the arc. Keli Leaupepe added 11 points, while Jalin Anderson scored 15 points from the bench. They were the only ones to reach double figures.

Drew Timme scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Bulldogs. Nolan Hickman contributed 12 points and six assists.
