Mets buy OF Luis De La Cruz from Orioles, complete James McCann Trade with Orioles

The Mets Friday, they announced that they have acquired OF Luis De La Cruz From the Baltimore Orioles.

De La Cruz will be the player that is named later. James McCann trade, which occurred Dec. 21.

McCann was still on the $40 million, four-year contract he signed just before the 2021 season.

The Mets will pay $19 million of the $24 million owed to the 32-year-old, according to multiple reports.

De La Cruz, 20 years old, was signed by the Orioles to be a non-drafted-free agent in 2019.

He played 60 games for the DSL Orioles and hit.252 (39-155) with 23 hits, seven doubles, 19 RBI, three stolen bases, and a.405 OBP.
