Notre Dame’s Ryan Bischel makes Richter Award Watch List

One of Notre Dame’s strong points this season has been at goaltender. Ryan Bischel Bischel is clearly the standout and many who follow college hockey professionally seem to agree. Bischel was named to the watch list for the Mike Richter AwardThe, which is given annually to the best college goaltender. The award hasn’t even been around for a decade, but the Irish already boast a winner in Cale MorrisThe honor was won by, who took it in 2018.

Bischel leads all collegiate goaltenders in shutouts with four, and that’s only the beginning. Bischel has 673 saves, which is second in the country. He also has a 2.70 goals per game average and a.924 saving percentage. Earlier this season, he was named the Big Ten’s Third Star of the Week.

We don’t know what more Bischel can offer this season, but it’s unlikely that he’s finished proving himself. Bischel will take the Irish as far as they can, which hopefully will be far.
