Titans request permission for Chris Harris to interview them as Commanders coach

Over the past two offseasons, Ron Rivera, Washington Commanders head coach, has maintained his coaching staff. His most significant move was one month before the end of year 3. he fired defensive line coach Sam Mills III He was replaced by Jeff Zgonina.

Two days after Commanders had finished 8-8-1 on Tuesday, the troops were back in action. Rivera fired offensive coordinator Scott Turner.

Rivera may not have to fill Turner’s vacancy alone. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported Thursday that the Tennessee Titans asked permission to interview Chris Harris, the coach of the Tennessee Titans.

Harris recently completed his third season with Commanders. He began his coaching career with the Bears in 2013 as a quality coach. Harris, 40, played eight years in the NFL. He has also received attention from other teams during the two offseasons.

Harris may be looking for another opportunity with Rivera entering year four and the prospect of new ownership.

Shane Bowen is Tennessee’s defensive coordinator and has no previous ties to Harris. Fowler suggests that Harris could be offered a position as a defensive coordinator by the Titans.

Washington’s defense rebounded in a big way in 2022. Harris is credited with a large part of this growth, including the development of cornerback Benjamin St–Juste and safetyties Kamren Curl & Darrick Forrest.
