During an interview The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Wednesday, the former Daily Show The 38-year-old host opened up about his departure. he officially exited in December.
Noah admitted that he appreciates how the show keeps him informed on current events, but he also acknowledged that it’s nice for a break from the daily grind.
He said, “I recall there was one Met Gala Afterparty I attended.” It’s an amazing event. Everyone is having a great time. What’s the news tomorrow? “…so now I choose when to consume news.”

Continuing, Noah acknowledged that he misses “the people, the culture and the vibe” — but that’s about it.
He said, “Making a daily TV program, in many aspects, is like planning for a wedding.” So you start to think about who the guests are. What are you going to wear? What’s going to happen? Who will be toasting? What are the speeches about? What is everyone eating? Where are they sitting? How is it going? Then the wedding takes place, and then you decide, “Alright. Tomorrow is another wedding.”

He said, “There’s no honeymoon.” “So, I miss the discipline, and I miss the joy that came with cracking that nut every day, but the grind is what I love.”
Noah also said, “I miss thinking more about things now.” Now, something happens, and I love the fact that I can just sit there and say, “Huh, no, I don’t have an opinion yet.”

The longtime host announced his departure in September. The Daily Show After seven years.
“One of the overriding feelings I found myself experiencing … was a feeling of gratitude,” he said in a clip shared on Twitter. “This thing is possible because of so many people, and I want you to thank the audience for seven amazing years.”
“It’s been wild. When we started, many people doubted our abilities. It was a risky bet. I still think it was a crazy choice… What a journey it’s been,” he added.

He shared: “From my mother, my grand[mom]”My aunt, all these Black women, not only in America, but also in my life,” he said in his December monologue.
Late night host called out several Black leaders. Roxane Gay, Tressie McMillan Cottom, Zoé Samudzi and Tarana BurkeHe referred to them both as “brilliant and brilliant women” He also thanked them, saying that they took the time to inform, educate, and debate with him.
“Do you really want to know how or what to do? Or the best or most equitable way. Talk to Black women — they’re a lot of the reason why I’m here and so I’m grateful to them,” he added. “I’m grateful for every single one of your kindnesses. It was an honor. We are grateful.
