U.S. considers any action that would jeopardize status quo for Jerusalem holy sites unacceptable
WASHINGTON, January 3, (Reuters) – Any unilateral act that jeopardizes the status quo of Jerusalem’s holy sites are unacceptable, a White House spokesperson said Tuesday after Israel’s new far-right national safety minister visited Al-Aqsa mosche compound.
“The United States is committed to maintaining the status quo regarding Jerusalem’s holy sites,” the spokesperson said. A unilateral action that compromises the statusquo is unacceptable,” the spokesperson added, noting that the United States has called Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to maintain his commitment to the statusquo of holy places.
