Wisear builds neural earbuds. They skip tracks when your jaw is clenched.

Wisear’s wireless earbuds are capable of controlling music and querying your phone using voice commands. Wisear is currently working on “the first wireless neural sensing earbuds.” a true wireless set You can control the tunes by using actions such as clenching or clenching of your jaw. The tech that drove its first model was shown. at CES last yearThe company has returned with a set of actual earbuds that can be used to demonstrate controls based upon facial movements.

Wisear has electrodes that monitor brain, eye, and facial activity. The company uses AI to transform those into controls. The company is showing off two items here at CES — play/pause and skipping tracks — both of which are done by clenching your jaw (once or twice respectively). Wisear expects that the first controls using eye movement, which it demonstrated with two wired prototypes earbuds in Vegas, will be ready by the end next year. It plans to also launch its first controls based upon brain activity next year. The company says once that full suite of actions is ready, it will debut its first consumer product — also currently slated for 2024.

The plan is eventually to make this tech available to other earbud manufacturers and allow them to use the hands-free method for AR. Although the prototype is bulky, the finished set will likely look closer to what we are used to with true wireless earbuds. Wisear states that its goal is bring the best features of earbuds to its models and that their battery life should be similar to the industry standard. This means that even with all the tech included, you should still be able get to the 5 hour mark on a single charge.
