Colts’ MVP for the 2022 season: LB Zaire Franklin

The Indianapolis Colts finished their 2022 season with a record of 4-12-1 and third in AFC South.

Math Ryan’s arrival had many analysts and fans predicting Indianapolis would put themselves in a position to contend, but this team came nowhere near those expectations.

Zaire Franklin, a linebacker, was one of the players who had a record-setting season and will be a crucial piece for Colts to continue building off of.

He ended the season with 164 tackles. This is a franchise record. He broke Shaquille Leonard’s previous mark of 163 that he set in his rookie year back in 2018. Franklin was also responsible for two sacks and five quarterback hits. He also had six pass breakups. It was an incredible year for the heart, soul and defense of the Colts.

Franklin was mostly used as a special team player in the early years of his career. However, Gus Bradley made him a 17-game starter, which was vital for this team. He also managed to record a franchise record of 10 games with at most 10 tackles.

The future look of this team is still unknown. Many changes are possible through free agency and the draft. Some familiar faces could be wearing different colors in September.

Zaire Franklin, one of the key players in rebuilding this team and competing for a title again is one thing that is certain.
